Troubleshooting

The most common eSIM setup snags, and how to clear them - most are a single toggle in your phone's settings. Setting up for the first time? See how to install an eSIM.

Each QR code is a one-time install for one device. If you've already scanned it once - including on a phone you've since replaced or reset - scanning it again won't work. We're not able to reissue an eSIM for an existing plan, so if you need it on a different device you'll need to purchase a new plan. Email [email protected] with your order number if you have any questions.

Nine times out of ten this is Data Roaming being switched off for the euRoam line specifically - see the two toggle guides below. If that's already on: toggle airplane mode on and off to force your phone to re-search for a network, confirm you're actually in one of euRoam's 31 covered countries, and restart the device if it's still stuck.

Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data) → tap the euRoam line → turn on Data Roaming. On the same screen, double-check "Turn On This Line" is enabled, and that Cellular Data is set to use the euRoam line while you're abroad rather than your home SIM.

Settings → Network & Internet (sometimes "Connections") → SIMs → tap the euRoam SIM → turn on Roaming. The exact wording and menu depth varies a bit by phone manufacturer, but it's always somewhere under the per-SIM settings rather than a single global toggle.

That's expected, not a fault. Your 31-day plan only starts counting from the first time your phone actually connects to a network in a covered country - so it's normal for the line to sit there looking inactive if you installed it at home, weeks before flying.

Check that automatic network selection is on (rather than a network you manually picked in a different country) - on iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Network Selection → Automatic. On Android it's usually under the same SIM roaming menu as above. If it's already automatic, a restart or a quick airplane-mode toggle usually clears it. See our coverage and networks page for who you should expect to connect to.

This is almost always a dual-SIM mixup - your phone is showing bars on the euRoam line but still routing internet traffic through your home SIM's (roaming-blocked) data. On iPhone, check Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data is set to the euRoam line, not your home one. On Android, check the default SIM for mobile data under SIM settings.

Hotspot is included on every plan, but it's a separate toggle from the data connection itself - Personal Hotspot (iPhone) or Hotspot & Tethering (Android) needs to be switched on for the euRoam line specifically, same as the roaming toggle above.

Use the usage link included in your order confirmation email - it shows how much data you've got left. Note that it can run 1-2 hours behind, so very recent usage may not show up straight away.

An eSIM is tied to the device it was installed on and can't just be moved by AirDrop or backup restore. We're not able to reissue or transfer an eSIM to a different device, so if you switch phones mid-trip you'll need to purchase a new plan for the new device.

iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Network Selection → toggle Automatic off to pick a specific partner network, or back on to let your phone choose. Android: it's under the same per-SIM roaming menu as above - Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → tap the euRoam SIM → Network operators. If you switch to manual for any reason, make sure to flip it back to Automatic once you cross into a different country - a manually-selected network won't hand off on its own, so you'll lose signal until you either pick the new country's network yourself or turn Automatic back on. See our coverage and networks page for the full country and partner list.
